The Long Walk Audiobook Overview (read by Kirby Heybourne)

The Long Walk Audiobook is a novel by American writer Stephen King, published in 1979, under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, tells the tale of the contestants of a grueling walking competition where there can only be one winner – the one that survives.

In 2000, the American Library Association listed The Long Walk as one of the 100 best books for teenage readers published between 1966 and 2000.

Summary

In the near future, when America has become a police state, 100 boys are selected to enter an annual contest where the winner will be awarded whatever he wants for the rest of his life.

If you break the rules, you get three warnings. If you exceed your limit, what happens is absolutely terrifying.

Among them is 16-year-old Ray Garraty, and he knows the rules – keeps a steady walking pace of four miles per hour without stopping. Three warnings and you’re out – permanently.

Review

Stephen King – The Long Walk Audiobook Mp3 isn’t an audiobook about killer clowns or haunted hotels. It’s not a Hunger Games type of book, despite the “game show” element of the Long Walk, nor is it a world attached to any tower, Dark or not. This book is in-your-face and physical, while simultaneously never losing that dreamy, philosophic quality of existential fiction.

This audiobook is something that will always remain in my mind. Not only was the writing engaging and visceral, but it struck a chord deep within me. Some people may not enjoy the book. It’s raw, painful, and depressing. But on the other hand, it challenges, breaks, and strips bare the human soul, and ultimately the sympathy such an act invokes is an intense experience.

I really loved The Long Walk Audiobook Download. The narrator did a good job too, but there are moments in the audio where the sentences appear to be clipped off. I can’t tell if this means I ended up missing a sentence or two or if it’s just a glitch. But, unfortunately, it kept taking me out of the story.
