About Mario Puzo and Mario Puzo’s Mafia series
Mario Gianluigi Puzo (1920 – 1999) was an American author, screenwriter and journalist. He is well-known for the novels about Mafia, most notably The Godfather Audiobook by Mario Puzo (1969). The audiobook later was turned into a three-part film saga by the co-operation between Mario Puzo and director Francis Ford Coppola.
With the success of first two films (in 1972 and 1974), Puzo received the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He also wrote the original screenplay for the 1978 Superman film. “The Family”was which was released in 2001 was his last novel.

The Sicilian Audiobook (know as The Godfather audiobook 2) is a novel by Italian-American author Mario Puzo. Published in 1984, it is regarded as The Godfather’s literary sequel, standing as a groundwork of his writing – a mix of lushly romantic, unforgettable tale of bloodshed, justice, and treachery.
In The Sicilian Audiobook by Mario Puzo, the spelling of Salvatore Giuliano’s name was intentionally changed by Puzo to “Guiliano”. This novel, though a work of fiction, is based on the real-life exploits of Giuliano.
In 1987, The Sicilian was adapted into a film, directed by Michael Cimino. In this film adaption, due to copyright issue, the characters of Michael Corleone and Clemenza were not included.
The plot of The Sicilian Audiobook
The year is 1950. After two years of exile in Sicily, Michael Corleone is returning to the USA. However, the Godfather has ordered him to bring a young Sicilian bandit, Salvatore Guiliano, back with him. Guiliano is the unofficial leader of North Western Sicily, a modern Robin Hood who fights “to make Sicilians people free”, defying corruption and the Cosa Nostra. In his way to realize his intention, he made both policeman and mafia his enemies.
Now, in this complelling and dramatic sequel to the Godfather, listerners can feel suspensely Michael Corleone’s fate is entwined with the dangerous legend of Salvatore Guiliano: warrior, lover, and the ultimate Siciliano.
