The story centers around the Tiste Edur lands of North Lether frontiers including Letharas city! Just an intriguing, amazing, epic storyline, much easier to follow than House of Chains audiobook.

Plot Summary

After decades of internecine warfare, the tribes of the Tiste Edur have at last united under the Warlock King of the Hiroth. There is peace – but it has been exacted at a terrible price: a pact made with a hidden power whose motives are at best suspect, at worst deadly.

To the south, the expansionist kingdom of Lether, eager to fulfill its long-prophesied renaissance as an Empire reborn, has enslaved all its less-civilized neighbors with rapacious hunger. All, that is, save one – the Tiste Edur. And it must be only a matter of time before they too fall – either beneath the suffocating weight of gold, or by slaughter at the edge of a sword. Or so Destiny has decreed.

About the Author

Steven Erikson (born October 7, 1959) is the pseudonym of Steve Rune Lundin, a Canadian novelist. His best-known work is the completed ten-book fantasy series Malazan Book of the Fallen, which by 2006 had sold over 250,000 copies.

SF Site has called the series “the most significant work of epic fantasy since Donaldson’s Chronicles of Thomas Covenant,” and Fantasy Book Review described it as “the best fantasy series of recent times.”

Reviews

A large cast of characters, both mortal, undead, and immortal, clash and swirl. Midnight Tides Audiobook mp3 is one of Erikson’s best books in the series. Tragedy and misfortune swirl as no one’s plans quite work outright. The darkest parts of humanity are exposed once more.

Even the basis of magical power and the gods were different here as instead of the Deck of Dragons and the Houses, we have the more antiquated form of Tiles and Holds. Thankfully, Erikson’s narrative continues to improve with each and every subsequent audiobook.

Steven Erikson’s writing is vivid and compelling, never overtly moralistic, and leaves the reader satisfied and with a distinct impression that there was much more going on than the author chose to reveal.

This fantasy series continues to be unique and amazing. If you haven’t listened to any of Malazan’s Book of the Fallen, you need to. It is worth the journey.

Narration

Michael Page doesn’t just narrate this book – he performs it. His cadence and delivery make for a very easy listen, and his ability to establish different and distinct voices for the characters throughout the book is superb.

The voices matched the dark, hard and gritty tone of the audiobook. He pronounces a lot of the vocabulary of the world a little differently than I have in the past, but I wasn’t too put out by that.
