Chapterhouse Dune Audiobook Streaming Online & Download Free

Chapterhouse Dune Audiobook is a science fiction story by American writer Frank Herbert, the sixth audio in his Dune Chronicles. It is also known variously as Chapterhouse Dune, Chapter House Dune and Chapter House: Dune.

Love is an important topic in this audiobook. What is love? What is duty? Where one ends and the other begins? The cold sisterhood distrusts love, but can it be avoided altogether? They must realize that love is one of the things that makes us human.

There are many interesting and powerful characters that emerge as the story evolves. If you’re a big fan of Dune Chronicles, don’t hesitate to get it. Another fantastic entry in one of the greatest science fiction series of all time!

Highly recommended!

Plot Summary

The desert planet Arrakis, called Dune, has been destroyed. The remnants of the Old Empire have been consumed by the violent matriarchal cult known as the Honored Matres. Only one faction remains a viable threat to their total conquest – the Bene Gesserit, heirs to Dune’s power.

Under the leadership of Mother Superior Darwi Odrade, the Bene Gesserit have colonized a green world on the planet Chapterhouse and are turning it into a desert, mile by scorched mile.

And once they’ve mastered breeding sandworms, the Sisterhood will control the production of the greatest commodity in the known galaxy – the spice melange. But their true weapon remains a man who has lived countless lifetimes – a man who served under the God Emperor Paul Muad’Dib…

About the Author

Frank Herbert (1920-86) was born in Tacoma, Washington, and worked as a reporter and later editor of a number of West Coast newspapers before becoming a full-time writer.

His first SF story was published in 1952 but he achieved fame more than ten years later with the publication in Analog of ‘Dune World’ and ‘The Prophet of Dune’ that were amalgamated in the novel Dune in 1965.

Reviews

Frank Herbert really never, ever wanted us to admire his powerful figures, and this doesn’t go away with Chapterhouse: Dune Audiobook. As endlessly twisted as one might expect, and at a point where you might be expected to start backing the main faction of this audiobook, Herbert throws in a scene of unforgettably inhuman tactics as part of a grand scheme that reminds us that he was out to warn us against admiring those in power. His powerful figures have probably never been more immensely and directly problematic as they are in this one.

One of the best things that can be said for Chapterhouse Dune Audiobook mp3 is that they both dive so, so deeply into the Bene Gesserit, who are in general one of the most fascinating groups I have ever read about. They are an incredible mix of philosophical wisdom, metaphysical insight, moral fitness, and pure discipline. They are that ultimate guiding hand in the background, the universe’s teachers ensuring the maturation of humankind.

Again, Frank Herbert did a ridiculous amount of research before writing this book. It shows how he truly understands the mechanics of economics, politics, and religion.

Narration

The narration was wonderful. Euan Morton, Katherine Kellgren, Scott Brick, Simon Vance – The excellent readers who did a great job.

The narrators used different accents for some of the characters; for example, one narrator gave Murbella a generic Eastern European accent, while the others used their own accents.

Overall, it worked well and was an enjoyable listen, and it did not get in the way of the book and may have even helped.
