Plot Summary
The Children of Dune are twin siblings Leto and Ghanima Atreides, whose father, Emperor Paul Muad’Dib, disappeared in the desert wastelands of Arrakis nine years ago. Like their father, the twins possess supernormal abilities – making them valuable to their manipulative aunt Alia, who rules the Empire in the name of House Atreides.
Facing treason and rebellion on two fronts, Alia’s rule is not absolute. The displaced House Corrino is plotting to regain the throne while the fanatical Fremen are being provoked into open revolt by the enigmatic figure known only as The Preacher. Alia believes that by obtaining the secrets of the twins’ prophetic visions, she can maintain control over her dynasty.
But Leto and Ghanima have their own plans for their visions – and their destinies…

Reviews
Children of Dune Audiobook mp3 is good, not as good as Dune, but certainly worth listening to. The true stars of this audiobook have got to be the twins. Leto and Ghanima are something special. Almost abominations like their aunt, they both walk a knife’s edge and Leto leads the way. She’s his rock, but Leto’s ultimate choice to follow the Golden Path is ultimately only his to walk.
Behind the scenes, there is all sorts of plotting and double-dealing between a whole host of characters and factions, and the shocking revelations from the middle of Children of Dune make this audiobook one of the best in the series.
Again, Frank Herbert did a ridiculous amount of research before writing this book. It shows how he truly understands the mechanics of economics, politics, and religion.
Narration
The narration by multicast and characterization of the actors was wonderful. They each read a separate chapter. They fit the characters they portray, and individualize each character, giving the story a richness and fullness, a 3D immersive experience.
They are all great readers, and I love the idea, but it would have helped if the readers had some common ground rules. It’s a minor quibble, but sometimes the characters (like Stilgar) have thick accents and at other times they do not. It makes it a little hard to keep track of who is speaking.
Overall, it worked well and was an enjoyable listen, and it did not get in the way of the book and may have even helped.
