God Emperor of Dune Audiobook is a science fiction story by American writer Frank Herbert, the fourth audio in his Dune Chronicles of eight novels. This profoundly philosophical installment in “the bestselling sci-fi series of all time” explores the now-verdant world of Arrakis thirty-five hundred years after the events in Children of Dune.
3,500 years have passed since Paul Atreides became the messiah of the Fremen and the Emperor of the universe. His son, Leto II, sees the path his father Muad’dib saw, a future that avoided the extinction of human life.
If you’re a big fan of Dune Chronicles, don’t hesitate to get it. God Emperor of Dune really adds a whole new level of understanding to the storyline and paints a picture. Another fantastic entry in one of the greatest science fiction series of all time!
Highly recommended! Don’t miss out on the continuing adventures of the Atreides and the Fremen.
Plot Summary
Millennia have passed on Arrakis, and the once-desert planet is green with life. Leto Atreides, the son of the world’s savior, Emperor Paul Muad’Dib, is still alive but far from human.
To preserve humanity’s future, he sacrificed his own by merging with a sandworm, granting him near-immortality as God Emperor of Dune for the past thirty-five hundred years.
Leto’s rule is not a benevolent one. His transformation has made not only his appearance but his morality inhuman. A rebellion, led by Siona, a member of the Atreides family, has risen to oppose the despot’s rule.
But Siona is unaware that Leto’s vision of a Golden Path for humanity requires her to fulfill a destiny she never wanted – or could possibly conceive…

Reviews
God Emperor of Dune Audiobook mp3 compares well with the original Dune, better than the previous two sequels (Dune Messiah and Children of Dune).
It’s a more mature view that is rare in science fiction, and for those who can identify with that mindset, the novel is very natural and free-flowing. This story includes preparing a protege, passing the torch to those that will follow, and the joy that comes from that experience.
Again, Frank Herbert did a ridiculous amount of research before writing this book. It shows how he truly understands the mechanics of economics, politics, and religion.
Narration
The narration was wonderful. Simon Vance narrates most of the book, with Katherine Kellgren reading the occasional female-dominated chapter and Scott Brick delivering the epigraphs at the start of each chapter. Three excellent readers who did a great job.
Overall, it worked well and was an enjoyable listen, and it did not get in the way of the book and may have even helped.
