Plot Summary

Here are stories to delight, enchant, and surprise you.

Best-selling author and master storyteller Neil Gaiman here presents a breathtaking collection of tales that will chill or amuse readers and that always embrace the unexpected. Included are:

  • The Case of the Four and 20 Blackbirds
  • Troll Bridge
  • Don’t Ask Jack
  • How to Sell the Ponti Bridge
  • October in the Chair
  • Chivalry
  • The Price
  • How to Talk to Girls at Parties
  • Sunbird
  • The Witch’s Headstone
  • Instructions

The Case of the Four and Twenty Blackbirds: Detective story set in storybook land. Starring all kinds of basic fairy-tale characters as they try to discern out what occurred to Humpty Dumpty. A bit of a gritty-seedy remake. Interesting, however not captivating.

Troll Bridge: this is republished from Smoke and Mirrors. Undue time is used to describe the troll’s flaccid genitalia. Un-ironically, the troll acts like a dick.

Don’t Ask Jack: this is republished from Smoke and Mirrors. Includes a menacing Jack-in-the-Box exceeded down via the generations. (As if I wanted every other motive to by no means purchase one).

How to Sell the Ponti Bridge: Extremely long-winded con – the Ponti Bridge is “sold” and the important characters make off like bandits. I started to lose pastime midway through.
October in the Chair: Highly fanciful assembly of the twelve months. It started off fascinating but quickly faded. This both should’ve been a novel or cut.

Chivalry: republished from Smoke and Mirrors. Despite that, this was once fun! A historical woman buys the Holy Grail at a resale shop. A knight comes searching for it and finds greater than he bargained for…

The Price: republished from Smoke and Mirrors. Still loved the story – one courageous cat defends his family from the Devil himself. This one used to be good, but no longer fleshed out. Should have been a full story.

How to Talk to Girls at Parties: Unexpectedly sexual – the dirty thoughts of a pubescent boy… but different than that it was a little enjoyable to see what used to be going on to the oblivious narrator. In his efforts to chat up girls, he mistakenly wanders into an alien birthday party and has no thought that she plans to do dirty things to him.

Sunbird: What ought to you consume if you already ate everything? At first, I felt sympathy for the most important characters however rapidly I realized that they were all terrible humans to commence with…

The Witch’s Headstone: This is a chapter from The Graveyard Book… this feels weird to study a section from every other book. Yes, the e-book was once posted after the short story series was once out… but it is solely a 12 months difference so I’m working on the assumption that Gaiman knew he used to be going to submit a whole other e-book and still put a chapter of it in this one.

Neil Gaiman – M Is For Magic Audiobook Reviews

Neil Gaiman is the best storyteller of the twenty-first century. He is always a joy to read and listen to. The only thing better than reading Neil Gaiman is hearing Neil Gaiman read his own work.

M Is For Magic Quote

Despite the cutesy title, M Is For Magic Audiobook Mp3 is soooooo now not terrific for all people below preteens. There are no rainbows and there are no unicorns…and due to the fact it is Gaiman, it’s weirdly sexual (though, now not hardcore, at least). YOU have been warned

Additional warning: Several of these stories show up elsewhere. I get that brief memory is often posted on their personal earlier than turning into a section of the anthology, however, what I’m referring to is that the short tales are already in a short-story book OR they are entirely posted as their personal book by way of Gaiman. A smidge frustrating.

It’s nice to read short stories sometimes because, like what Neil Gaiman said, they allow you to listen to something that can be finished within the time that’s available to you: short breaks from work, time spent on the road commuting, etc. It’s even better when the stories are written by Neil Gaiman, whose rich imagination is, in my opinion, simply like no other writer’s.
