Moon Called Audiobook: A Symphony of the Supernatural Voiced by Lorelei King

The whispers of the night have always held secrets, but none quite like those in Patricia Briggs’ Moon Called, where the paranormal breathes life into the ordinary, and every shadow may hide a friend or a foe. As a former author and current connoisseur of tales told through speakers rather than pages, I embarked on this auditory journey with a zeal for the otherworldly. And what an expedition it was – guided by the masterful narration of Lorelei King, whose voice became my compass through the supernatural landscapes painted by Briggs.

From the first spoken word, Moon Called enveloped me in an auditory embrace that felt both innovative and nostalgic. Briggs’ storytelling prowess is evident as she weaves a tale around Mercy Thompson – a character as robust and multifaceted as the world she inhabits. Mercy’s life is anything but mundane, with neighbors howling at the moon and past employers more at home in fairytales than reality. The everyday becomes extraordinary through her eyes, and through King’s voice, I felt every nuance of Mercy’s existence.

King’s performance is nothing short of mesmerizing; her ability to infuse each character with distinct personality traits while maintaining a cohesive narrative flow is akin to watching a skilled painter bring a canvas to life – one stroke at a time. The way she captures Mercy’s strength and vulnerability made me feel as though I were not just listening to her story but experiencing it alongside her.

The audiobook’s soundscape was an intricate dance between words and silence, where every pause held weight and every inflection carried meaning. As Mercy navigates a world rife with magic and mystery, King ensures that listeners are never lost but rather spellbound by the rich tapestry of characters – from gremlins to vampires – that Briggs has crafted.

What truly sets Moon Called apart in its audiobook form is how it manages to maintain suspense and intrigue through sound alone. There were moments so vividly portrayed that I found myself holding my breath, awaiting the outcome of battles both physical and emotional. The blend of romance and action is balanced with such finesse that one never overshadows the other, instead creating an ebb and flow that mirrors the natural rhythms of life – even one as unnatural as Mercy’s.

As I reached the end of this auditory odyssey, my thoughts lingered on how seamlessly lore and modernity intertwined within this story. The final echoes of King’s narration left me with a sense of completion yet yearning for more adventures with Mercy Thompson – a testament to both Briggs’ captivating writing and King’s enchanting performance.

So here’s to our next venture into realms where magic stirs beneath the surface of everyday life – until then, happy listening.

  1. So far, there are some pretty big errors in the first and second tracks. It suddenly jumps presumably whole chapters, as if they somehow got left out of the audio file. In the first chapter, there is quite a large jump and where it comes back in clearly, there is an important part of the story that you’ve missed, which makes it rather confusing, And it creates a spoiler for a character dying that you don’t get to know how they died because of the jump. and then in the second track the same thing happens again and you miss what is clearly going to be a critical part of the story as well. Are there copies of the files that don’t have this error?
