Roadwork Audiobook Overview (read by G. Valmont Thomas)
Roadwork Audiobook is a novel by American writer Stephen King, published in 1981 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Only Stephen King, writing as Richard Bachman, can imagine the horror of a good and angry man who fights back against bureaucracy when it threatens to destroy his vitality, home, and memories.
This story was collected in 1985 in the hardcover omnibus The Bachman Audiobooks. Three of the four novels in that collection – Roadwork Audiobook, The Long Walk Audiobook, and The Running Man Audiobook – have since been reprinted as standalone titles.
Plot Summary
The story takes place in an unnamed Midwestern city in 1973–1974. Grieving over the death of his son and the disintegration of his marriage, Barton Dawes is driven to mental instability when he learns that both his home and his workplace will be demolished to make way for an extension to an interstate highway.
Barton Dawes’ unremarkable but comfortable existence suddenly takes a turn for the worst. A new highway extension is being built right over the laundry plant where he works – and right over his home.
Dawes isn’t the sort of man who will take an insult of this magnitude lying down. His steadfast determination to fight the inevitable course of progress drives his wife and friends away while he tries to face down the uncaring bureaucracy that has destroyed his life.
Review
Stephen King considered “Roadwork Audiobook Mp3” is one of his not so good novels. I want to disagree with his majesty. Lots of listeners thought that it would have been a fine short story, but it failed as a novel. I object to that. For me, “it” and “the stand” would be better if they were “less”, but “roadwork” is exactly the right size. Because it is real life.
In more than 9 hours, this audio holds the full extension of human vulnerability and despair, in front of painful fate, grievous blows of life and the system’s cruelty. For me, a masterpiece!

Cycle of the Werewolf Audiobook is a short horror novel by American writer Stephen King. It tells the story of a werewolf haunting a small town as the moon turns full once every month.
It was published as a limited-edition hardcover in 1983 by Land of Enchantment, and in 1985 as a mass-market trade paperback by Signet. King also wrote the screenplay for its film adaptation, Silver Bullet (1985).
Plot Summary
The first scream came from the snowbound railwayman who felt the fangs ripping at his throat. The next month there was a scream of ecstatic agony from the woman attacked in her snug bedroom.
Now scenes of unbelieving horror come each time the full moon shines on the isolated Maine town of Tarker Mills. No one knows who will be attacked next. But one thing is sure.
When the moon grows fat, a paralyzing fear sweeps through Tarker Mills. For snarls that sound like human words can be heard whining through the wind. And all around are the footprints of a monster whose hunger cannot be sated…

If you’re looking for a great way to kill a lunch break, pick up “Stephen King – Cycle of the Werewolf Audiobook”. A crisp scary tale about a small town’s year dealing with a Beast in their midst. I don’t know if you would categorize this tale as a novella or a long short story, either way, you’ll breeze through the story in an hour. Keep in mind though, this is indeed a novelette, so don’t expect it to be a long read.
If you’ve never read ‘Cycle’ but instead seen the film ‘Silver Bullet’, which is based on this novelette, you will find a lot of differences. One of the biggest ones to me, is the relationship between Marty and his sister.
The audiobook is split up into months, acting as chapters, which gives it a nice variation in the weather, and overall mood of the characters.

Master storyteller Stephen King presents the classic “wondrously frightening” (Publishers Weekly) #1 New York Times bestseller about a writer’s horrific and haunting pseudonym.
“I’m back…I’m back from the dead and you don’t seem glad to see me at all, you ungrateful son of a bitch.”
Background
The Dark Half Audiobook is a horror novel by American writer Stephen King, published in 1989. Publishers Weekly listed The Dark Half as the second best-selling book of 1989 behind Tom Clancy’s Clear and Present Danger. The novel was adapted into a feature film of the same name in 1993.
Stephen King wrote several books under a pseudonym, Richard Bachman, during the 1970s and 1980s. Most of the Bachman novels were darker and more cynical in nature, featuring a far more visceral sense of horror than the psychological, gothic style common to many of King’s most famous works. When King was identified as Bachman, he wrote The Dark Half – about an author with a sinister parasitic twin – in response to his outing.
Plot Summary
Creating George Stark was easy. Getting rid of him won’t be….
The sparrows are flying again. The idea – unbidden, inexplicable – haunts the edge of Thad Beaumont’s mind. Thad should be happy. For years now it is his secret persona, George Stark, author of superviolent pulp thrillers, who has paid the family bills.
But now Thad is writing seriously again under his own name, and his menacing pseudonym has been buried forever. And yet…the sparrows are flying again, and something is terribly wrong in Thad Beaumont’s world.
Review
The Dark Half Audiobook Mp3 is one of those audiobooks where the main character is the least interesting one. Alan Pangborn is a great viewpoint character and a lot more interesting than Thad. He’s a small town sheriff trying to do his job despite some crazy stuff happening.
Basically, The Dark Half is Parker chasing down Donald Westlake. Since I’ve read all 23 Parker books Richard Stark wrote since the first time I read this, the reread was a much richer experience. I noticed some Richard Stark influence in the George Stark chapters. Also, I enjoyed the Creepshow reference, although I might have to check the timeline to see which one actually came first. “Call me Billie, everyone does!”
Aside from the psychopomp business with the sparrows and Stark falling apart, Stephen King The Dark Half Audiobook is pretty much a crime book. It doesn’t feel nearly as long-winded as some of King’s books and the ending didn’t suck for once. George Stark was a chilling villain and since I forgot the ending, I had no idea if Thad would live or not. Four out of five stars.

Background

It expands upon the scenario of his earlier short story “Night Surf” and outlines the total breakdown of society after the accidental release of a strain of influenza that had been modified for biological warfare causes an apocalyptic pandemic, which kills off over 99% of the world’s human population.
King dedicated the book to his wife, Tabitha: “For Tabby: This dark chest of wonders.”
Plot Summary
First came the days of the plague. Then came the dreams. Dark dreams that warned of the coming of the dark man. The apostate of death, his worn-down boot heels tramping the night roads. The warlord of the charnel house and Prince of Evil. His time is at hand. His empire grows in the west and the Apocalypse looms.
For hundreds of thousands of fans who read The Stand in its original version and wanted more, this new edition is Stephen King’s gift. And those who are listening to The Stand for the first time will discover a triumphant and eerily plausible work of the imagination that takes on the issues that will determine our survival.
Review
The best post-apocalyptic audiobook ever?
Maybe, that is a broad category teaming with great work from talented writers, but King’s The Stand Audiobook Mp3 is epic, genre-defining work.
This is also an American epic and in its context an American eulogy. King shows us the good the bad and the ugly of what we are and what we can be. An observant reader will see references to Ursula K. LeGuin (word for world is woods), to Jim Morison, Edgar Allan Poe, Woody Guthrie, and hell even Rod McKuen.
The series of events are told so well and the voices used by the same person are incredible. Massive thanks to SK for writing this epic and for selecting GG as the narrator.

Here is the timeless story of Mary Poppins, the world’s favorite nanny, and her magical adventures with the Banks family.
Mary Poppins Audiobook is like no other nanny the Banks children have ever seen. It all starts when their new nanny is blown by the east wind onto the doorstep of the Banks house, carrying a parrot-headed umbrella and a magic carpetbag. She becomes a most unusual nanny to Jane, Michael, and the twins.
Who else but Mary Poppins can slide up banisters, pull an entire armchair out of an empty carpetbag, and make a dose of medicine taste like delicious lime-juice cordial? A day with Mary Poppins is a day of magic and make-believe come to life!
Movie Edition
The audiobooks were adapted by Walt Disney into a musical film titled Mary Poppins (1964), starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. The film Saving Mr. Banks (2013) depicted the making of the 1964 film. Disney’s sequel to the 1964 film, Mary Poppins Returns, was released in 2018, and stars Emily Blunt as Poppins.
It received a total of 13 Academy Awards nominations, including Best Picture – a record for any other film released by Walt Disney Studios – and won five: Best Actress for Andrews, Best Film Editing, Best Original Music Score, Best Visual Effects, and Best Original Song for “Chim Chim Cher-ee”.
In 2013, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”. Mary Poppins is considered Walt Disney’s crowning live-action achievement and is the only one of his films which earned a Best Picture nomination during his lifetime.
Audiobook Review
Originally written in 1934. As a child, I had never read the book Mary Poppins. I knew about the Disney musical based on this book, but after watching the movie Saving Mr. Banks, I had to buy and read this book. It was great! I love Mary Poppins and the many adventures that she has with Michael, Jane, and the twins.
The voice of the narrator is detailed yet cheeky and reads a lot like the character of Mary Poppins herself. The complexity of the family issues (hint: there are more than two kids) is thought-provoking and entertaining. This children’s audiobook is a great curl-up afternoon silent read, or works well as a read-aloud (probably because PL Travers had dramatic experience as well).
I will not spoil anything for anyone. Must read and must buy for young and old alike! You will not be disappointed.

Hearts in Atlantis Audiobook is a collection of two novellas and three short stories by Stephen King, all connected to one another by recurring characters and taking place in roughly chronological order.
Five interconnected, sequential narratives, set in the years from 1960 to 1999. Each story is deeply rooted in the sixties, and each is haunted by the Vietnam War.
Plot Summary
In Part One, “Low Men in Yellow Coats”, 11-year-old Bobby Garfield discovers a world of predatory malice in his own neighborhood. He also discovers that adults are sometimes not rescuers, but at the heart of the terror.
In the title story, a group of college students get hooked on a card game, discover the possibility of protest… and confront their own collective heart of darkness, where laughter may be no more than the thinly disguised cry of the beast.
In “Blind Willie” and “Why We’re in Vietnam”, two men who grew up with Bobby in suburban Connecticut try to fill the emptiness of the post-Vietnam era in an America which sometimes seems as hollow – and as haunted – as their own lives.
And in “Heavenly Shades of Night Are Falling”, this remarkable book’s denouement, Bobby returns to his hometown where one final secret, the hope of redemption, and his heart’s desire may await him.
Full of danger and suspense, most of all full of heart, Hearts in Atlantis will take some listeners to a place they have never been, and others to a place they have never been able to completely leave.
Audiobook Review
This is nowhere near being one of Kings scariest books, but it may possibly be one of the deepest novels he has written.
Interestingly enough, I started out in the first story being entertained in the fantasy of a tale that not only took me back to a time of my childhood but was also connected to King’s Dark Tower series, a series I consider a masterpiece. So yeah, I was having a good time… but by the time I reached the fifth and last story of the book I was angry; angry at war, angry at the man, angry at the government, angry at the system, angry at the atrocities of life and angry at the cruelty of my fellow human beings.
Being a child of the 60’s, having grown up in the Vietnam era, Hearts in Atlantis Audiobook Mp3 really hit home for me. But it wasn’t just because of the war itself. This was a look into the hearts of man (and woman).

#1 New York Times bestselling author Stephen King presents an original screenplay and major television event set in Maine’s remote Little Tall Island. Storm of the Century Audiobook, alternatively known as Stephen King’s Storm of the Century, is a 1999 horror audiobook written by Stephen King.
For the first time in Stephen King’s remarkable publishing history, the master storyteller presents an all-new, original tale written expressly for the television screen.
Background
Stephen King started writing Storm of the Century Audiobook as a novel, but it evolved into the teleplay of an ABC TV miniseries. Set in Maine’s remote Little Tall Island, the tale is all about vivid small-town characters, feuds, infidelities, sordid secrets, kids in peril, and gory portents in scrambled letters.
The calamitous snowstorm is nothing compared to the mysterious mind-reading stranger Linoge, who uses magic powers to turn people’s guilt against them – when he’s not simply braining them with his wolf-head-handled cane. Don’t even glance at that cane – it can bring out the devil in you. Just as The Shining was concerned with marriage and alcoholism as much as it was with bad weather and worse spirits, Storm of the Century is more than a horror story. It’s creepy because it’s realistic.
They’re calling it the Storm of the Century, and it’s coming hard. The residents of Little Tall Island have seen their share of nasty Maine Nor’easters, but this one is different. Not only is it packing hurricane-force winds and up to five feet of snow, it’s bringing something worse. Something even the Islanders have never seen before. Something no one wants to see.
Audiobook Review
Storm of the Century is technically a teleplay, but let’s not split hairs. This audiobook was good and certainly packs a wallop but I found the play format to be a distraction and hindrance rather than a boon. Mr. King can surely write about some painful things-I just think this book might have had more punch if it had been presented as a regular novel instead.
This audiobook grabs you right at the beginning and does not let your go until way after you finish. It will keep you thinking about how society really thinks and acts. Great movies. I would read a chapter then watch it on the tube to compare. Almost identical and well done! The characters chosen to play the roles were the best choices.
From the first of Storm of the Century Audiobook Mp3, you are just sitting there trying to take it all in, the killing of an old woman starts it off, and the ending is just…Stephen King!

Review
Stephen King’s It
IT is a fantastic horror audiobook that entices audiences of all ages. The fact that it actually combines two timelines makes it more relatable as well. The descriptions of the town, the story, the characters, and the villain are all so elaborate and detailed that you feel a part of it all. The book is over a 1000 pages long, and the audiobook is almost 45 hours, but that makes it that much more immersive.
Unlike many horror audiobooks, the “heroes” in It by Stephen King have been portrayed like normal human beings with flaws. None of the seven friends is perfect, and that is the way it should be. Everything about the book is petrifying, and one should not expect anything less from the great Stephen King. This book is arguably the one that got him the most fame in the horror genre. Each second of it is a pleasure and an experience to listen to. If you are holding back due to the generation, I assure you that it would be worth the time.
Narrator
The book was narrated by Steven Weber. He is an American actor who has had roles in a lot of movies and short films. His narration of IT was astonishing. The pitch and voice were perfect for every scene, and it felt really smooth. Steven’s voice and style made the already amazing book even greater pleasure to experience.
Author
The author Stephen King is an American author known for his mind-blowing horror and science fiction stories. He is said to be by many as the greatest storyteller of all time. Another novella written by the great Stephen King, Morality Audiobook Free, was first published in 2009 in the July issue of the popular men’s magazine “Esquire”.
Later it was included as a bonus at the end of the famous novella “Blockade Billy” also written by Stephen King.
This story follows a slightly different path than King’s usual works as it contains the genres of psychological thriller and crime fiction.
In November 2015, Morality was introduced a third time in the anthology, The Bazaar of Bad Dreams.
Morality is an extremely short story of only 12 pages, however, it reaches the audience very deeply as a story about the sensitive morality slipping away from humans as a result of financial difficulties.
The Author – Stephen King
After the release of its last publication in The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, Stephen King stated in an interview that this certain novella was really close to his heart because it was based on some personal stories of his younger life.
He further added that he dealt with issues of moral philosophy when he was a student and used to attempt minor robberies and write other students’ academic works in exchange for money.
Plot Summary

After a few hours of discussing the payment, Nora agrees to help Winston. After finishing the task with chad, Nora goes back to Winston with a video of them punching a little child in the face in the park and the punch leads to the little kid suffering from a nosebleed.
After being satisfied, he pays Nora her reward as promised. He supposes that Nora would not work for him after what she has seen on his face and what he does. Nora found the whole act vile and wondered why Winston wanted to commit this type of sin. After some time, Nora gets the new that Winston has committed suicide. She wonders whether the videotape will be discovered or not. Stephen King – Morality Audiobook Mp3.

After reading it Nora realizes that she already knew everything that was written in the book.
Editorial Reviews
Morality Audiobook Online Streaming received a Shirley Jackson Award in 2009 for Best Novelette and has had pretty mixed reviews.
Although most readers enjoy the plot, they do believe that the story is too short and should have been extended to a whole novel or at least to more than twelve pages.
Listeners of the Morality Audiobook Download, read by Mare Winningham have said that her voice is very satisfying and adds up perfectly to the horror novel.
Overview of Throttle Audiobook – a short story with Joe Hill
A novella that was written by Stephen King and well-renowned writer who is also King’s son, Joe Hill. The story Throttle was first published in February 2009.
Stephen King – Throttle audiobook was inspired by the classic book “Dual” written by Richard Matheson.
Like many novellas and books previously written by Stephen King, this too is of the horror and thriller genre.
Audiobook Background
Published by Gauntlet Press in 2009, Throttle audiobook – read by Stephen Lang is a story with a different kind of dual that follows an indistinctive trucker who is put in competition with a gang of motorcycle criminals in the smoldering hot desert of Nevada.
Both battle for as long as twenty miles on one loneliest road in the country of America. A road where the only thing worse than not knowing who you are up against is slowing down during the battle.
The Author
Throttle audiobook free is one of the many books written by the legendary Stephen King of the horror genre. This specific novella is slightly different as it deals with the horrors of gangs and rivalries on the road.
A whole otherworldy experience that ignites a passion in the reader and gives them a view of the thrilling time faced by a trucker who is unknowingly part of a sinister dance with a gang of bikers.
The novella was also chosen for an adaptation into a comic book published by IDW Publishing and was released in the spring in 2012.
Plot Summary
As it is inspired by the story and TV movie Dual, Throttle also includes the two main components of bikers and a trucker.
However, in the case of Throttle, there is a gang of bikers and a semi-trailer truck on the roads of Nevada. As the story opens, the semi truck is driving towards its destination peacefully with no bad or evil intent of any kind. Later, however, a gang of motorcyclists appears and one of them is shown to be very arrogant and overconfident.
Because of this very reason, this specific motorcyclist cuts off the semi and moves in front of it. Regardless of this irritating action, the semi-truck driver pulls over to let all the motorcyclist through.
Little do the motorcyclists know, this is a trick done by the semi driver in an attempt to get behind the bikers and then gradually kill them one by one.
This tale of survival, although short, shows the audience how some people irk for revenge over the slightest mistakes.
The main focus of the story Throttle is based on the relationship between a father and a son. This may seem extremely important because it was also, in fact, written by a father and a son, thus, it strongly grasps the main idea.
Editorial Review
Stephen King and Joe Hill’s Audiobook Throttle
This suspenseful thriller was liked by many readers and critics, however, most of them felt that even as a novella, Throttle could have been longer.
Throttle Audiobook Free Download has been in talks of becoming a movie or a series, however, no confirmations have yet been released. Moreover, a comic book adaptation was released as discussed above.
As for the audiobook that was read by American actor Stephen Lang, the reviews consisted of positive comments as people felt that his voice was perfect for the genre of thriller and suspense that King and his son created.
