About The Word and the Void
The Word & Void series (also called The Word and The Void) focuses on John Ross and Nest Freemark, forced acquaintances who use magic given to them from the Word to prevent mankind from being overcome by the demonic forces of the Void.
It follows Nest Freemark, a girl with magical abilities who has no known relationship to any Shannara character. Before the publication of Armageddon’s Children, it was unclear whether this trilogy existed within the Shannara universe. It has since been revealed as the “ultimate prequel” to the Shannara novels.
Plot Summary

The other, a Knight of the Word, dreams about a nightmarish future and spends every waking moment desperately trying to change its course. The fate of the town and, ultimately, of humanity depends on one exceptional 14-year-old girl, the only one who can see the otherworldly creatures that have begun to invade her home town.
George Wilson’s narration powerfully conveys the apocalyptic magnitude of this novel of good versus evil. Mystery and suspense blend to keep the listener involved to the very last word.
Audiobook review
Running with the Demon Audiobook Mp3 is a dark and complex story of the battle between good and evil. This is not Lord of the Rings or even Shannara. It is something completely different and it hooked me right from the start. If you think you know fantasy, if you think it’s all wizards and swords, you’re wrong.
The plot is expertly done, interweaving multiple subplots and a mystery to build the tension to the final confrontation. And Brooks is as usual excels at action sequences, although there’s only one really epic magical battle in the book.
