Spartan Gold Audiobook Streaming Online and Download

Spartan Gold Audiobook is the first in the “Fargo series” of adventure novels by Clive Cussler, co-authored by Grant Blackwood. The hardcover version of the Audiobook was once first posted on September 1, 2009. The paperback version was once launched on August 31, 2010. Other variations of this novel had been launched at unique dates after the introduction of the hardcover version.

In this adventure, husband-and-wife treasure hunters Sam and Remi Fargo must out-pace a self-made millionaire in pursuit of an incredible fortune.

Another thing that came to mind was codes and puzzles. Whenever a writer works with codes and riddles, he, like others, may be fascinated by the unknown and the mystery. Take Dan Brown for example! For some reason, the codes and puzzles in Spartan Gold were minimal, too complex and abstract for readers to understand and solve. All the enthusiasm given to the engineer could not stand it and I was a little disappointed. I hope that other novels in the series use codes and plots, but I also hope that they are a lot more efficient.

I really liked this introduction to the new series and am looking forward to listening to Audiobook 2, The Lost Empire.

Plot Summary

Thousands of years ago, the Persian king Xerxes the Great was said to have raided the Treasury at Delphi, carrying away two solid gold pillars as tribute. In 1800, Napoleon Bonaparte and his army stumble across the pillars in the Pennine Alps. Unable to transport them Napoleon creates a map on the labels of twelve bottles of rare wine. And when Napoleon dies, the bottles disappear.

Treasure hunters Sam and Remi Fargo are exploring the Great Pocomoke Swamp in Delaware when they are shocked to discover a World War II German u-boat. Inside, they find a bottle taken from Napoleon’s ‘lost cellar.’

Fascinated, the Fargos set out to find the rest of the collection. But another connoisseur of sorts has been looking for the bottle they’ve just found. He is Hadeon Bondaruk – a half- Russian, half-Persian millionaire. He claims to be a descendant of King Xerxes himself.

And he wants his treasure back.

Audiobook Reviews

Spartan Gold Audiobook mp3 is absolutely phenomenal! I realize that Grant Blackwood likely provided the historical research and National Treasure-like treasure hunt premise, but the book also followed the classic Cussler format. I must admit that I have been waiting for the beginning of this series by Clive Cussler for a very long time.

I am only one away from completing his three other episodes (NUMA Files, Oregon Files, and Dirk Pitt Adventures), and I am only half interested in his novels about Isaac Bell’s adventure series of the century. So seven or seven scavenger hunts are also great. The only reason I waited so much, to begin with, was because I could not find this audiobook 1 in silence.

When I first came across Spartan Gold and met Sam and Remy Fargo, they immediately refreshed me. They had few government connections, but are just a wealthy romantic couple who fund their own getaway. Where Kurt Austin could blink up to his fracture in a HALO suit and use a Juan Cabrillo Gatling pistol, Fargos with a rusty pistol and a heavy stone. This jump at Bravo was an exciting way to start a new streak!

One thing that particularly bothers me about this new pair is their constant shrieking (hopefully) about past exploits that we will never see. This adventurous and romantic “real life” story gives these characters a completely different side that makes them almost human. When a character does not have this type of shadow, it is sung and difficult to read.

About the narration, I think Scott Brick does a very good job, as he does with the other Cussler audiobooks he reads. I don’t believe he has the range or difference in tones that some other narrators do, but all in all I enjoy his work.
