The Emperor’s Exile Audiobook Free by Simon Scarrow
The Emperor’s Exile Audiobook is already the 19th installment of the wonderful “Eagles of the Empire” series. It is a gripping, authentic, and exciting audiobook of the Roman army from best-selling author Simon Scarrow, not to be missed by fans of Conn Iggulden and Bernard Cornwell.
This is another of Scarrow’s audiobooks I have really been looking forward to, especially after enjoying the previous entry in the series, The Blood of Rome.
Plot Summary
A.D. 57. Battle-scarred veterans of the Roman army Tribune Cato and Centurion Macro return to Rome. Thanks to the failure of their recent campaign on the eastern frontier they face a hostile reception at the imperial court. Their reputations and future are at stake.
When Emperor Nero’s infatuation with his mistress is exploited by political enemies, he reluctantly banishes her into exile. Cato, isolated and unwelcome in Rome, is forced to escort her to Sardinia.
Arriving on the restless, simmering island with a small cadre of officers, Cato faces peril on three fronts: a fractured command, a deadly plague spreading across the province… and a violent insurgency threatening to tip the province into blood-stained chaos.
Audiobook Review
This was another fantastic and highly enjoyable historical fiction novel from one of my favorite authors, Simon Scarrow, who has produced an impressive new entry in his long-running Eagles of the Empire series.
If you’re a follower of Scarrow’s series, this is a must-read, and if you’re not, go back to the first book in the series and read them in order. Everything will make more sense that way. As usual, with Scarrow’s audiobooks, there’s a goodly amount of blood, guts, and mayhem designed to keep the action junkie happy.
The Emperor’s Exile Audiobook mp3 is a fantastic and enjoyable read which features a cool new story with some unique and intriguing elements to it. It contains an extremely fun and captivating narrative that follows Cato work to defeat a new enemy in a new historical setting.
Simon Scarrow continues to show why he is one of the top authors of Roman historical fiction in the world today. He sets up an exciting and fast-paced story for this latest book, with the protagonist forced to deal with all manner of politics, intrigue, and various forms of deadly peril in a rather quick succession as he is assigned his mission and attempts to complete it.
Storytelling is for certain of superb quality, all the characters are lifelike and believable, while the deadly atmosphere in Sardinia, with also the killing pestilence in their midst, comes splendidly off the pages.
Love this series, great plots with a cast that you can relate to! A must listen if you enjoy Roman warfare.
