The Kill Order Audiobook is a young adult dystopian science fiction audiobook, written by American author James Dashner. It is the first prequel book in The Maze Runner Audiobooks series and the fourth installment overall.
The book is set prior to the events of The Fever Code Audiobook and 13 years before The Maze Runner audiobook.
When sun flares hit the Earth, intense heat, toxic radiation and flooding followed, wiping out much of the human race. Those who survived live in basic communities in the mountains, hunting for food.
For Mark and his friends, surviving is difficult, and then an enemy arrives, infecting people with a highly contagious virus. Thousands die, and the virus is spreading. Worse, it’s mutating, and people are going crazy. It’s up to Mark and his friends to find the enemy – and a cure – before the Flare infects them all.
Plot Summary
Before WICKED was formed, before the Glade was built, before Thomas entered the Maze, sun flares hit the earth and mankind fell to disease.
Mark and Trina were there when it happened, and they survived. But surviving the sun flares was easy compared to what came next. Now a disease of rage and lunacy races across the eastern United States, and there’s something suspicious about its origin. Worse yet, it’s mutating, and all evidence suggests that it will bring humanity to its knees.
Mark and Trina are convinced there’s a way to save those left living from descending into madness. And they’re determined to find it – if they can stay alive. Because in this new, devastated world, every life has a price. And to some, you’re worth more dead than alive.
Why should you listen to The Kill Order right now?
The Maze Runner series is very addictive, and The Kill Order Audiobook Mp3 made me cry out injustice! It is a fantastic roller coaster, though I would probably recommend listening to this after the other audiobooks despite it being a prequel.
The action makes the audiobook a fast listening and a great choice for reluctant listeners, who will flinch along the way at some of the extreme material, like when Mark admits enjoying crushing a man to death.
Anyway, it was a pretty dark story. I felt bad for this group and what was happening to them. And holy crow, what those evil people did to Lana. I mean they did evil things to a lot of people but this was one of the group and these freaks were off their nut!
Also at the very end, we get to read about Thomas as a young boy before all hell broke loose in his world. It was just a page or so. Either way, I enjoyed it
With all the action and drama we’ve come to expect from the maze runner audiobooks, this was a welcome addition and it has made me want to go back and re-listen to all the trilogy again!
