Rise of Empir is a sci-fi & fantasy audiobook written by bestseller author Michael J. Sullivan. It is the second story in The Riyria Revelations Audiobook series.
This book picks up after a year or so after the end of the first book where Church has found a lost leader and started to form an Empire. We continue to follow the adventures of Royce and Hadrian who were now assisting Alric (King of Melangar) to combat the uprising forces of the New Empire.
Rise of Empire Audiobook contains Nyphron Rising Audiobook and The Emerald Storm Audiobook, books 3 and 4 of Riyria Revelations.
What is the story?
The adventure continues as Royce and Hadrian aid the struggling kingdom of Melengar as it alone stands in defiance against the newly formed empire. War approaches and a desperate gamble behind enemy lines is their only chance at forming an alliance with the Nationalists to the south.
But Royce has plans of his own as he uses this opportunity to discover if an ancient wizard is using Riyria as pawns in his own bid for power. To find the truth, Royce must unravel Hadrian’s hidden past. What he discovers will lead them to the end of the known world, on a journey rife with treachery and intrigue.

Brilliant plotline. Brilliant pace. Brilliant characters. Brilliant world-building. Brilliant plot twists. Brilliant everything.
The relationship between Royce and Hadrian becomes even more interesting which I adore. The author provides a lot more depth to the characters of Royce and Hadrian. Backstories of Royce and Hadrian is been flushed out which is masterfully integral to the overall story.
There are twists in this book that caught me by surprise. Arista’s development as a person and as a practitioner of the ‘art’ continues, and it is a fun ride.
The individual stories each touched upon different adventures… breaking into an impregnable tower, a high seas adventure, a dungeon crawl, etc, giving each book its own unique feel and never a retread. This works well with the overall storyline for the entire series as well and in the end the payoff is well worth your time and money spent.
The narrator did a great job, and the audiobook is really fun to listen. This audio series is turning into one of my favorite. Rise of Empire Audiobook Mp3 has set up nicely for the last in series for which I can’t wait!
