The Blinding Knife Audiobook is every great. It continues with the story nicely allowing you to see how each character develops as it moves. it makes you want to know what will happen next.
The very world Brent Weeks has created is enticing and is perhaps why this is such a strong story. Colour has a universal attractiveness and a world where the ability to split light into colors and shape objects from it, is uniquely appealing.
All of the main characters are back and the character development was still the strength of this book. Most of the characters are flawed individuals and have a dark side that surfaces from time to time, but I still found myself invested in a number of them. Some newer characters are also interesting, especially those involved in the sequences related to the Blackguard selection process.
The twists, shocks and heart-wrenching blows keep coming and by the end, you will be begging for more.
Narrator:
About the narration, Simon Vance has many improvements than the reader for audiobook 1. He really brought this story to life for me. I found myself caring about the characters and grasping the concept of the magic system better, and even understanding the political nuances.
He made the characters identifiable, unlike Jean who made Kip sound like a whiny brat and Gavin sound like Keanu Reeves. I hope Simon Vance continues to narrate the rest of the series.
