Like the first audiobook of His Dark Materials series, The Subtle Knife Audiobook Mp3 free was a wonderful literary adventure. This audiobook takes off where The Golden Compass ended and Lyra has traveled to another world, staying in the deserted city alone for a few days before the surprise meeting with Will. I loved the developing dynamics of Will and Lyra’s friendship.
Although the author’s characterization is a little weak, the plot and especially the complete originality kept delighting me! This series has none of the standard fantasy character-categories (i.e., no elves, dwarves, dragons or wizards, kings or swords)… instead we find an utterly original fantasy with elements of science fiction, reality and use of religious history/myths/abuses.
This, again contained heartbreak, deaths and dark creatures/storylines. However, there is the brightness of a developing friendship, strong bravery, and many connections between the plot lines that are made and fit into place.
More exposition, less action, more trudging to final destinations, but you know, the writing is still exquisite, and it has surprises. I really look forward to seeing how it all wraps up in the final book.
